The Citizen Academy project

The early idea of The Citizen Academy started to conceptualize based on our accumulated experience working with Masahat (previously known as SPACE) in Norway since 2015. We began then working exclusively on Syria, with the intention of reclaiming our space to talk about our country in the Norwegian public debate. Parallel to that, we also wanted to revive the space that the peaceful protestors have reclaimed in 2011 with a plethora of defiant, cultural expressions after decades of a monolithic monopoly on the public space by the oppressive authorities….
